Everything you need to tune

Three powerful modes, one seamless workflow. From quick checks to deep harmonic analysis.

Strobe Tuner

See fundamental, octave, and compound fifth as separate strobe bands. Direction tells you flat or sharp instantly.

Simple Tuner

Quick-check mode with horizontal cents bar, detected note display, and pitch pipes for reference tones.

Overtone Analyzer

Waterfall FFT spectrogram reveals the full harmonic spectrum with piano keyboard overlay.

Multi-Window

Open linked child windows showing different modes simultaneously. Monitor strobe and spectrum side by side.

Scale Library & Customize Your Scales

27 most played scales including Kurd, Celtic, Hijaz, Pygmy, and more. Create unlimited custom scales with your exact note layout.

Sub-Cent Precision

Industry-leading pitch detection accurate to fractions of a cent. Configurable A4 reference (420-460 Hz).

Three ways to perfect pitch

Each mode reveals different aspects of your handpan's sound. Use them together for complete control.

Strobe Mode

Deep harmonic analysis

The strobe display shows separate bands for fundamental (1x), octave (2x), and compound fifth (3x). Bands drift left when flat, right when sharp. When a band freezes, that partial is in tune.

  • Color-coded harmonic bands (red, green, yellow)
  • Adjustable sensitivity and drift speed
  • Cents readout for each partial
  • Auto and manual target note selection

Simple Tuner

Quick check, instant feedback

The simplest way to check pitch. A large note display shows the detected note, with a horizontal cents bar indicating how far off you are. Scale notes at the bottom guide your tuning session.

  • Large detected note with cents deviation
  • Horizontal cents bar with center indicator
  • Pitch pipes for playing reference tones
  • Scale-based note row for quick navigation

Overtone Analyzer

See the full spectrum

A real-time waterfall FFT spectrogram shows the complete frequency content of each strike. The piano keyboard highlights where harmonics land, making it easy to spot rogue overtones.

  • Waterfall spectrogram with configurable color maps
  • Piano keyboard with harmonic highlighting
  • Log or linear frequency scaling
  • Freeze and inspect individual strikes

A Note from a Tuner

Perfectly tuned handpans are not always the goal

Handpans are not meant to be mathematically perfect. A beautiful instrument doesn't have to be tuned to the exact cent — sometimes tuners intentionally add subtle imperfections that increase character and warmth. A tone can be 10 cents off and still sound perfectly in tune to the ear.

In fact, on a perfectly tuned instrument, certain tones can activate the same overtones and make them disproportionately loud. The 10-cent rule: small deviations are normal and often desirable. Consider this before questioning your instrument's tuning.

If you're happy with how your handpan sounds, don't send it for retuning. When something is truly out of tune, you will feel it. And if you're buying a new instrument, make sure you have a tuning guarantee.

Questions & Answers

What makes PanTuner different from a regular tuner? +
PanTuner is built specifically for handpan tuning. Unlike regular tuners, it shows harmonic strobe bands for the fundamental, octave, and compound fifth simultaneously — the three partials that define a handpan tone's quality. It also includes an overtone analyzer with waterfall FFT and 27 pre-loaded handpan scales.
How many devices can I use with one license? +
All plans cover 3 devices (e.g., workshop laptop + studio desktop + portable). You can deactivate and reactivate on different devices anytime.
Can I add my own custom scales? +
Yes. Go to Settings and enter your scale name and notes (e.g., "D3 A3 Bb3 C4 D4 E4 F4 G4 A4"). Custom scales are saved locally and appear in the scale selector alongside the built-in presets.
What audio input do I need? +
PanTuner works with any microphone — built-in laptop mic, USB condenser, or clip-on contact mic. For best results in noisy environments, a contact microphone placed on the handpan shell gives the cleanest signal.
What about multi-window on mobile? +
Multi-window is a desktop feature (Mac, Windows & Linux). On mobile, PanTuner runs as a single-window app with all three modes accessible via tabs. The core tuning engine is identical across platforms.
Is there a free trial? +
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. No credit card required. No ads, no hidden fees. Cancel anytime.
